Att befästa en plats och samtidigt föda en önskan om att översvämma den
4-channel video installation, video varying between 05:07 min and 09:35 min, 2017-2019 Royal Institute of Art, Stockholm
4-channel video installation consisting of four films exploring different locations; the sea, the harbor, an alvar and the landscape below the surface of the water. When I filmed, I was interested in the different materiality of the places, which I wanted to approach by zooming in on, for example, the animals' fur, the structure of the water or the facade of a fishing cottage. Using long and still shots gave me the opportunity to try to show moments directly from a reality. Despite the visible silence, however, there was a rhythm of small movements in each place that testified of a life that goes on when no one is watching. The harbor, for example, was completely deserted after the hustle and bustle from the summer when tourists take over the place, but it did not feel less alive when it was empty, rather the opposite. It gave me the opportunity to discover all its movements and sounds. With the camera as a tool, I was able to get the viewer to take part of my gaze, to notice these rhythms that otherwise go unnoticed.
